"...there's nothing more magical than a child enthralled by a fairy tale. These stories unite us in the human experience and teach us valuable lessons that will stay with us all of our days...In a perfect mix of storytelling and ballet geared specifically to the little ones, Pages to Pirouettes" ..Daniel Sean Kaye, Ticket, Jan 17/18, 2001.

Our Mission

To enrich cultural awareness and appreciation in the community by bringing the art of story ballet to elementary school children and other appropriate audiences.

Pages to Pirouettes, a non-profit organization, was founded by two ballet dancers from Pennsylvania, Susan Cade and Michele MacDonald. They are now the company's co-directors. With their first paid performance in 1996, Pages to Pirouettes has produced over 200 shows throughout the Philadelphia metropolitan area and New Jersey.

Prior to each performance, curriculum has been provided to help enhance the children's experience. For example, children will often create scenery or props to contribute to the production. At each performance an abridged version of the story is read and then performed in full costume to spirited music. Each presentation closes with an invitation to the children to meet the dancers, touch the costumes and props and practice some steps.

Pages to Pirouettes often brings its programs to schools and environments that do not not have the opportunity to participate in this type of experience.

The company would also like to add future story ballets including Billy The Kid, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and La Sylphide.
